Tally turns building a form into writing a document, and hands founders logic, payments and signatures without a paywall
Tally
The form builder that feels like typing a doc, with a free plan that keeps giving
Tally started as a pivot. In early 2020 Marie Martens and Filip Minev were building a marketplace linking hotels and travel influencers, and then the pandemic emptied the hotels. They had spent enough time wrestling with form tools to know what annoyed them: builders that were either pricey or stingy on their free tiers. So they built the one they wanted and shipped a free version that summer.
The big idea is the editor. Instead of dragging boxes around a canvas, you type on a blank page like you would in a doc, and the questions appear as you go. It is a small design choice that makes a form feel like a five minute job instead of a project, and it is a big reason Tally spread so quickly through maker and startup circles.
Where it shines
The free plan is the headline act. Unlimited forms and submissions, conditional logic, answer piping, calculations, signatures, payments and file uploads all come without a paywall, within fair use. For a founder collecting waitlist signups, running a customer survey or taking pre-orders, that covers almost everything on day one.
It also plays nicely with the rest of a small team's stack. Responses flow into Notion, Google Sheets, Airtable, Slack and Zapier, forms can live as popups or on a custom domain, and there is support for more than 50 languages. Pro adds the polish: your own branding, custom CSS, team members and analytics.
Who will love it
Anyone who has ever opened a form tool and sighed. Indie makers launching a product, marketers running quick research, community builders running applications and small teams that want a form live before the meeting ends will feel right at home. And because Tally is a two-founder, bootstrapped story that grew into a serious business, it is easy to cheer for the people behind it too.
A form builder you can explain in one sentence: open a page, start typing, ship it.
